THE SACRED HILL OF KAILASA OF THE SOUTH

A Divine Confluence of Jyotirlinga and Shakti Peetham

Srisailam, known traditionally as Dakshina Kailasam, holds an extraordinary status in Sanatana Dharma. It is one of the rare and revered sacred sites in India where both a **Shiva Jyotirlinga** (Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy) and an **Ashtadasa Maha Shakti Peetham** (Goddess Sri Bhramaramba Devi) are consecrated within the same ancient temple complex.

Family Tip: Elderly family members are strongly recommended to use the ropeway cable car instead of walking down the stone stairs.

PRACTICAL VISITOR ADVICE

Planning a Family Pilgrimage to Srisailam

1. Traditional Temple Dress Code

Traditional attire is strictly required inside the inner sanctum. Male devotees should wear dhoti and uttareeyam, or traditional kurta and pyjama. Female devotees should wear sarees, half-sarees, or salwar-kameez with dupatta. Jeans, western shorts, and modern casual clothes are restricted during special sevas.

2. Travelling with Elders & Children

Special queues for senior citizens and parents with infants are generally facilitated during morning darshan hours. Ensure your family has a comfortable room with 24x7 hot water at Yadava Satram so elders can rest peacefully before and after queues.

3. Forest Ghat Road Night Timing Rules

The approach road passes through the Nagarjunasagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve in the Nallamala forest. Gates at the forest entry checkpoints have scheduled overnight closures to protect wildlife. Plan your driving departure from Hyderabad, Kurnool, or Vijayawada to reach Srisailam well before evening gate closings.

4. Booking Your Accommodation Early

Weekend crowds and holiday influxes are high throughout the year. Avoid last-minute walk-in stress by contacting our desk at +91 83989 67642 to reserve your Family Suite or Deluxe Room prior to starting your journey.
